CAST-IRON
SPEAKERS
STUDIO JAROŠ/BEDNÁŘ CTU
For the cast-iron assignment, I designed and manufactured a two-way Hi-Fi stereo system using high-carbon cast iron, targeting audio enthusiasts and audiophiles who value both sound quality and design. Unlike composite cabinets that become waste after their lifetime, the cast-iron body can last for generations or be melted down and repurposed at any time. The drivers are easy to upgrade or change once they reach the end of their lifespan.
The shape evolved from the ideal speaker cabinet form - a sphere - while precisely embedded technical parts help to highlight the raw beauty of both. I aimed to achieve a raw technical aesthetic that is timeless. The speakers sit on hand-cut glass stands, allowing for easy tilting and rotation to optimize positioning and listening experience.
A DSP amplifier functions as an active crossover and can be connected through cable or Bluetooth.
